- Sift flour and salt into a bowl.
- Rub butter into flour with fingertips until mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.
- Add sugar and fruit. Mix well.
- Beat egg and milk together.
- Stir into the dry ingredients and mix well.
- Place teaspoonfuls of mixture on greased oven trays. Allow room for spreading.
- Bake in a moderate oven for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Allow to cool on trays.
