- Beat butter and sugar to a cream.
- Add lightly beaten eggs and vanilla. beat well
- Sift flour, cocoa and salt together. Mix in fruit, coconut and nuts.
- Fold in dry ingredients alternately with milk to form a soft dough.
- Spoon into a well greased and floured block cake tin.
- Bake in a moderate oven for 50 to 55 minutes or until a skewer insisted in the .middle comes out clean.
- Cool on a wire rack.
- When cold, ice with chocolate icing and decorate with chopped nuts and cherries.
