Hi!
I have just been looking through a meze cookbook planning a dinner for 6 on sat night. I had to write it out anyway so I thought I would put it on here..
Meze is mediterranean entree platters but if you make a range its a great casual dinner. This is for my parents, us, daughter and friend, the cookbook I have says 2 recipes per person so thats 12 different dishes but I will cheat a little with buying a couple ready or semi made. Oh my parents only eat chicken and fish so that limited it a bit.

Dolmades -hopefully the ones in the deli at Woolies are vegetarian so I can just get those. I wouldnt mind making them but unsure where to buy vine leaves.
Mushrooms in red wine
Zucchini patties
Felafel - might cheat and buy the packet mix
Chicken rolls -hubby makes some yummy ones with roast chicken and cous cous in puff pastry
Tabbouleh - my daughter loves to make this
Marinated olives - was going to make these but they are best sitting for two days :( Will probably buy some.
Lima bean casserole
Hummus - will probably buy it
Souvlakia- the recipe is for pork but chicken will be fine

Something with seafood.. possibly calamari or octopus in red wine or tuna skewers

If anyone has any ideas feel free to add them..

Jess :D

Pizza 4 me tonite, my son works for a pizza store and he is late nite shopping so , its pizza, I dont like cooking for myself, or too late for that matter, mind you , A person can get very sick and tired of pizza, esp. when a family member can get them cheap. But tonite is good, tomorrow is not good, we eat healthy tomorrow nite.

I agree, I hate cooking for myself.
Also agree with getting sick of food like that if you have it too much.. although as a teenager my hubby worked for pizza hut but he still loves pizza, cooks it very well too :D
We did end up having stir fry instead of eating out. It was yummy!

That meze you are doing sounds fantastic Jess! Where's all our invites? :D I wonder how long it will take to prepare... but it wil be fun!

:D Yes it should be good.. lot of work but I enjoy it. Today I bought everything and marinated the olives in dill and orange, then made the red wine marinated mushrooms. Will do some other dishes in the morning that need some marinating. Might take a piccy of the table with it all laid out for you..

Eating at the shopping centre is such a bad habit to get into. You get FAT! I know time is always the issue but if you get in a habit of making your dinners it will be better for you down the road.

We had beef stroganoff last night, its a low fat recipe I like that uses light evaporated milk instead of cream.
