Someone on an intermational recipe group mentioned this Australia Vogue magazine recipe from the 1990's called Ambra D'Oro a tiramisu type recipe made from vanilla and chocolate flavored ricotta but did not share it! if anyone has this particular recipe, it would be wonderful if it could be hared

Hi Twinkle
I think it may the same or similar as in the Annette Syms cookbook. Will find it for you and write it up later today if I get the chance.

Annette Sym's low fat recipe that she calls: Tiramisym is as follows:
Sponge
1/2C cornflour
1/4C self raising flour
2T custard powder
2 whole eggs
2 egg whites
1/2C castor sugar
3/4t bicarb of soda
1t baking powder
cooking spray
Preheat overn to 180 degrees C fan forced.
In a large mixing bowl beat egg whites with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form.. Gradually add in sugar beating constantly. Beat in egg yolks on low speed. Using a large spoon gently fold in sifted cornflour, SR flour, custard powder, bicarb of soda and baking powder. Pour mixture into a lamington tin ( 31cm x 25cm) that has been coated with cooking spray and bake 15 - 20 mins until centre springs back when touched. Allow sponge tp sot 5 mins in tray before turning onto a wire rack to cool.

Coffee syrup
1C boiling water
3t instant coffee
1/3C sugar
1/4C Tia Maria liqueur
Combine ingredients and leave to cool on one side.

Cream Filling
1 x 500g tub low fat cottage cheese
1/2t vanilla essence
1/3C white sugar
In a food processor beat cottage cheese until really smooth. Add sugar and essence and beat until sugar has dissolved. Keep in fridge until required.

To assemble Tiramisym
Cut sponge in half to make two pieces. Cut through each piece widthways so you have 4 layers of sponge. Place first layer onto plate for serving. Spoon a quarter of the coffee syrup evely over the sponge, top with a third of the cream spreading evenly. Top with a layer of sponge with the cut side facing up and repeat coffee syrup and cream then repeat again. On final layer of sponge place cut side facing down, spoon coffee syrup mixture on top. Sprinkle a little cocoa and icing sugar over the top for decoration. Keep in fridge until required.

Annette writes a great range of cook books focussed on weight loss via awesome food that doesnt taste like diet food. http://www.symplytoogood.com.au/

Thank you for the recipe post ! I beleive the dessert I was looking for had chocolate and vanilla flavored ricotta cheese but this looks very yummy and I will try it at some time.

Ambra d'oro I guess stands for "amber and gold " and not sure why it is called that maybe because it uses a type of amber colored liquers with a gold sponge cake ?

I tried to find past recipe files from Vogue Australia but was unable

again thanks for your reply and post!!!

Twinkie I am the culprit who mentioned this recipe & it is not anywhere similar to Annette Syms recipe (which sounds very yummy by the by) I gleamed the recipe for AMBRA D'ORA from a lady, Dianne who owned the now defunct TATTERSALLS PUB/HOTEL in ROZELLE NSW AUSTRALIA. I lost contact with her I do have the recipe in a book of recipes I have collected At the moment I have misplaced this darn book & if you saw my home you would know how easy it is - as i am ashamed to say I am a hoarder. I too need the recipe as later today I am going to my nieces home for Australia Day BBQ........BUT I PROMISE AS SOON AS I FIND this bloody book I WILL POST THIS YUMMY RECIPE Regards KrystynaCooks
