Recipe wanted... Please, could someone help me out?

Postby helli78 on Mon Oct 06, 2008 10:21 pm

Hi everybody,

first I want to apologize for any writing mistakes i may make - I'm German...

I have a good friend of mine coming over in November, and guess what - he's Australian. I want to cook something special for him and his girlfriend (she's Romanian), as I haven't seen them in a while.
I know, he kills for BBQ and steaks, but as it is, it's Winter in Germany and freezing cold. So no BBQ. Next problem, he's coming in from South-America - you might guess, i can't mess with their steak quality.
So I thought about cooking something typically Australian, but I haven't got a clue yet, what that would be.
So if there's someone out there who can - PLEASE DO... :D (I'd really appreciate if you could include the recipe or a link to it in your hopefully tons of answers)

Thanks a lot,

Helli.

Hi Helli
Perhaps a roast lamb dinner with roast veges like potato, pumpkin and carrot. Served with gravy and mint sauce. That's something I think most Aussies fondly remember their mum cooking. There's an article here about roasting meat. And a mint sauce recipe if you can't buy it in the supermarkets there (plus its nicer home made).
A meat pie could be good too but not particularly fancy.
I am sure others will have ideas. Or if you wanted to do a bbq you could do it on a grill inside, we do that sometimes in winter.

Oh and welcome to the forums
