Thought process

Postby AJH on Fri Aug 10, 2007 4:23 pm

I am trying to change my attitude about diets. I am no longer looking at it like a diet, but more as a healthier way of living. I am hoping that this will help with losing weight. I think I go into diets with the wrong attitude and feel like I am depriving myself. Anyone have any thoughts and to "getting your mind right" for a diet.

I personally think that the only way to truely lose weight is not to deprive yourself.

1. There are plently of recipes of healthy food that tastes great. Change your meal plan to healthy foods you like. I dont for a second believe that anyone can not like all healthy foods.

2. Eat less, enjoy more. Slow down when you eat. Enjoy each bite of food more. Remember that your meal should not finish with you feeling full. You should be satisfied but not stuffed.

3. Exercise more. The biggest motivator is seeing results. You will see results much faster with regular exercise. Exercise is a great feedback loop too. It makes you feel great and your body starts giving you cravings for the right type of food.

I am always on the run so slowing down has been one of my challenges. It is very rare that I am eating at my dining room table. This is a good suggestion though.
I also know that I need to eat less and move more! I have gotten to the point where I exercise 1-2 time per week, and am trying to get up to 4-5 times. I think this will be the biggest difference in my success.

Getting your mind right is everything when staying in shape or eating right. You first have to have a desire or a pain that motivates you to be healthy or stay in shape. I like to run and that is the best way to clear my mind and make myself feel like I am heading toward a healthy body.

Well put Stan. I use to be fat but I told myself no more and I began a self-improvement on my weight and life. That changed my life.
