Learn To Be A Chef
Join one of our scheduled sessions and find the chef within! On the day, as soon as arrive at the venue the fun begins. Walk into a stunning penthouse apartment with gorgeous city views, grab an apron, and get ready for a fun culinary journey. In this interactive cooking class you start with the basics of cooking - knife skills, making sauces and stocks, preparation and presentation - things that don't often get taught in cooking classes. Most of the classes have a theme to them whether it be Spanish, Vegetarian, Lebanese or others but all the classes have the 'Learn to Be the Chef ' elements in them so you will be dicing and cutting like the best of them before you leave. Throughout the class, you get generous helpings of professional tips such as knife sharpening, time management, menu planning and how and where to find the best ingredients. You complete several dishes, which you enjoy family style, exchanging stories and good cooking moments, of course, with a glass of wine in hand (BYO). These classes are focused on developing cooking skills, with a choice of cuisines and styles that will rotate in each scheduled class from simple to complex. Learn how to cook duck properly or do that perfect Spanish feast complete with paella. Learn Greek inspired dishes, Mexican, Moroccan, Latin, or Mediterranean. Menus can be anything from two courses to a buffet. You get an amazing experience in the world of food, where you and your friends learn things you always wanted, building your confidence in the kitchen. We give everyone copies of the recipes and photos so you can share your cooking adventure with others. Pettavel Cooking Classes
The Pettavel cooking class schedule for 2008 is now open for bookings. Executive Chef Matt Dempsey, Sous Chef Graham Jefferies and Chef-de-Partie Gabby Ladd will be conducting the popular classes, which will run from April to June. Classes are held on Wednesday evenings. Classes are conducted between 5.30pm - 9.30pm. Participants receive a workbook of recipes and dinner, accompanied with a glass of Pettavel estate grown wine. Classes are limited to 15 people (Demonstration class - 20 people). Please book early to avoid disappointment! Demonstration class This year we will also be running 1 demonstration only class (no hands on). This class “Melt in you Mouth Meats” will run for 2.5 hours (5.30-8.00pm) and is priced at $65 per person including dinner and a glass of wine. (Maximum 20 participants). Participation Classes The regular participation classes are $95 per person and run from 5.30pm to approx 9.30pm and include dinner and a glass of wine. (Maximum 15 participants). Shopping Tour (Half Day) 2.00pm - 8.30pm Spend the afternoon with the Pettavel Chefs learning the secrets to sourcing the best produce in the region. Super Sri Lankan Cooking Class
Your cooking class instructor is Paul van Reyk who wants to help Australians experience the richness of the cuisine of his native country, Sri Lanka. Paul has taught at the Seafood Cooking School and Accoutrement, runs a catering company and often reviews South Asian as well as running foodie tours to Sri Lanka. Just like the TV show...! With the help of our French Chef and guided by a Reality TV director, you and your team will compete in front of the cameras to win the title of Top Corporate MasterChef! Once your team arrives, you will be divided into smaller groups of 2-4 people per recipe.
