- Combine butter and sugar in a saucepan.
- Stir over low heat until butter melts, sugar dissolves and mixture turns to thick syrup.
- Bring to the boil, reduce heat and simmer for 3 minutes.
- Combine water, golden syrup and cornflour. Mix until smooth.
- Add to brown sugar mixture and stir until smooth.
- Bring to the boil, reduce heal and simmer for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in cream.
- Serve warm or cold.
